EGGY + BAD BANGS + THE BLOODY NORAHS

Combining forces across two special nights at Naarm’s legendary Old Bar, EGGY and Bad Bangs are teaming up to celebrate their latest releases with double surprise launch shows.

Running hot off their latest single 'Contest', Bad Bangs are back - offering a second course with forthcoming single 'Sympathy'. The oddball, angular pop track Sympathy humours the retrospect and delusion around a mild flirtation. Tongue in cheek lyrics and jarring rhythm makes for an unexpected turn on Bad Bangs rollicking train of garage rock. Toot toot next stop the Old Bar - all aboard

Kicking into a new cinematic gear, EGGY have just shared ‘Open Field’.

Written and intended as a three part odyssey, these seven minutes and fifty one seconds traverse through the sounds of a band who keep conviction as their touchstone. Taking notes from the Düsseldorf and Berlin schools of the 70’s, these drifting melodies and mechanistic rhythms hold court alongside the climactic intensity of a group forged by the 00’s New York underground.

Self-releasing and distributing the track across a limited 7”, Open Field will be available for purchase at these shows.

Two nights, two bands, one (old) bar. Unmissable.

Tickets are $10 for the first 24 hrs, then $15, then $20 on the door.

JOHNSTON ST LATIN FIESTA DAY 2 ARVO SHOW: CRUMBE + TEN GALLON HEAD

Come 3.30pm, Sunday 25 February 2024, the 45th Annual Johnston St Fiesta will have been in full swing for nearly two full days and be on the home stretch. Things could be getting jiggy on the street and peeps won’t want that party to end!

What better way is there to keep that dang party cooking than to duck into the Old Bar for some rock and roll respite in the form of lyrically candid surf-punk four-piece Crumbe; and Melbourne’s own psychedelic powerpop merchants, Ten Gallon Head?

Crumbe sonically dances on the fringes of Patti Smith, P J Harvey and Velvet Underground with a raw B52s style groove and a healthy dose of the post-punk grit.

Ten Gallon Head will be appearing in unique GUITAR-CENTRIC mode, sans keys but with special guest second guitar on selected tracks. It’s Ten Gallon Head as you’ve never heard them!
Entry is FREE!! TGH on at 4pm. Crumbe on at 5pm.

JOHNSTON ST LATIN FIESTA: LEGENDS OF MOTORSPORT + DIGGER & THE PUSSYCATS + STIGG. FREE ENTRY

Since Team Legends decided that it was time to call it a day 7 long years ago the world has been riven with war, pandemic and political strife. We believe the timing of these events is no coincidence. In these uncertain times we here in Camp Legends have been thinking deeply about the problems the world is facing and how we could play our humble part in reversing the perilous course of world events.

After much consideration, we have reached the conclusion that what the world and indeed the human race desperately needs is ANOTHER BUNCH OF SELF INDULGENT OLDIES REFORMING TO SHART OUT THEIR NON-HITS OF YESTERYEAR!

That’s right folks, you heard it here first. Team Legends are bringing their patented brand of rock and roll chaos back to the Old Bar to remind the world what a good time looks like.

Come and veer wildly down memory lane with a foot on the foldback and one hand on the wheel at the Old Bar in Fitzroy on Saturday February 24th with barrel of monkeys Digger and the Pussycats (who also played that last show 7 years ago) and reformed kiwis Stigg. It’s the night of the Spanish Fiesta so the show will be FREE ENTRY! Which means you’d better get there early if you wanna see it.

METDOG - Launch + CAMMY CAUTIOUS & THE WRESTLERS + BIG FARMER

Join Naarm/Melbourne digi-punks Metdog as they unleash their latest album ‘Questions and Answers Regarding Computers and Screens’. This frenetic new release from Metdog turns an eye toward the electric eye, appraising the absurdity of the digital age and dismantling the circuitry of device usage in the deeply philosophical yet sardonic Metdog fashion. Joining them on the night will be sydney rockers Cammy Cautious and the Wrestlers + Hometown favourites Big Farmer.
