SATURDAY 11 APRIL
The Old Bar
w/ Arrows Of Desire
(Matinee show - 4pm till 6pm)
Emerging from the kaleidoscopic corners of Australia’s underground psych-rock scene, Night Rites have carved out a reputation for conjuring sonic landscapes that feel like they were pressed under a peyote sun somewhere in the trashcan end of the Mojave.
Fueled by cavernous reverb and cosmic fuzz, Night Rites channel a sound that is equal parts introspective journey and electric ritual. Their music pulls threads from The Velvet Underground, Spacemen 3, Dead Skeletons and the deeper currents of fried-out basement psych, weaving it all into something thunderously hypnotic and emotionally raw.
Onstage and on record, Night Rites operate like a sonic tarot reading—looping riffs, droning Synths and Organs, reverse-flood rhythms and reverb-drenched mantras that drag listeners through the liminal space between dream and disillusionment. Vocals flare like ghost signals from a haunted kiln; guitars bend and shimmer as if warping under astral pressure. One moment you’re floating in some shimmering light-tunnel, the next you’re knee-deep in skronk-bog sludge chanting like a cultist at a Dead Moon séance.
Since their earliest shows — where basement kids blinked Morse code through feedback haze back in ’20 — Night Rites have bottled a prickly, glass-chewing energy that fans swear feels equal parts ritual, hallucination and communion.
The fire is lit. The night is long. Night Rites are here to drag you deeper.
