WONDERBEAMS
Where nostalgia and innovation meet, 'Wonderbeams' is a lo-fi dream pop journey inspired by love and vision. It is pink, it is purple, it is silver and white...with a pop of red. Interstellar, Barbarella, a sweet and warm layered voice sends signals out into the ether. Boosted in melody, backed by drum machine and held together by its heart, 'Wonderbeams' is an eclectic and soulful collection of stories.

Many of the demos made for 'Wonderbeams' were created using a Casio keyboard in darby's bedroom, the songs were then later recalibrated to be expanded upon by Melbourne Artist/ Producer Mark Churchcill with warm analogue instrumentation and experimental soundscapes.

"Sometimes, there are songs so great that the air stands still, and the world stops to listen in. They're written by darby, and they should be illegal if they weren't so good..." Nkechi Anele Triple J

CLIT SPLIT + RED HELL + LXRP

CLIT SPLIT

Clit Split is one messy fanny. Clit Split is a wreck of electronic and punk. They use an ironing board worth of synths to create techno selector beats, colliding with cut throat femme vocals. They create music that you can both rave and start a fight to. With songs about breaking your pussy on a bike, to eating glue they have a sound that the whole family can enjoy.

RED HELL
MUTUALLY ASSURED DESTRUCTION

LXRP
LXRP are a three-piece-chorus-pedal-drum-machine-post-punk-rock-band crafting catchy songs about urban planning.

PURPLE DISTURBANCE + FILTHY McNASTY'S + GREVILLEA

Coffs Harbour teenagers, Purple Disturbance are returning to Melbourne.

With 5 singles released prior to them being 18 the guys have come of age, school is now done, and they are looking to relocate to Melbourne as soon as they can, Coffs Harbour is a fucking cultural wasteland.

Purple Disturbance have toured with Grinspoon, Press Club and played alongside Private Function (who were lovely enough to call them the only band that ever mattered), Dune Rats, Beddy Rays, Jebadiah and Screaming Jets for some reason.

Purple Disturbance mix old school punk with a renewed vigor, reimagined through the fresh eyes of today’s kids.
Purple Disturbance released their 5th single, Queen Bee in March, the song based on an intriguing Melbourne homeless identity.

Purple Disturbance will be joined by local legends, Filthy Mcnastys and Grevillea at The Old Bar Sunday 11th May, The Mother’s Day Massacre.

So come along and buy them a beer to celebrate the fact they are all now legal, welcome them back to Vic and as they like to say, Fuck shit up.

FERLA + CONG JOSIE & THE HEL RACERS + PUBLIC FIGURES

We're back.

With emphasis.

We're back

With all the crooning and sad disco that you've come to expect. Plus some new material that's less sad but still a little disco.

It's been two-and-a-bit years since our last headline show and in that time babies have been born, theses have been submitted, global rule-based order has been corroded and the phrase 'not the end of the world, but you can see it from here' is being heard with increasing frequency. It's time for a Ferla show.

Please join us at the most beautiful of Naarm musical institutions, The Old Bar, with various angels and divine messengers Cong Josie & the Hell Racers and Public Figures.

Alexander Biggs Stay with the Horses Album Launch

Australian-born, LA-based songwriter Alexander Biggs follows up the release of their second album, Stay with the Horses, with an intimate run of shows in Melbourne and Sydney this May.

The second album from Alexander Biggs navigates emotional peaks and troughs, capturing moments of sickness and recovery, humor and longing. It's an attempt to express something that defies words. Through its themes and undercurrents, the album invites listeners to connect with the shared, often indescribable, experiences of life.

These intimate performances offer listeners a chance to experience the record in a stripped-back solo setting.

ULLAH + MIA JUNE + HANNIE DAY

With a voice that lays bare fragility and distinct power, Ullah’s delicate lyricism has an honesty that drives home a theme of tender truths.
Since 2021, Ullah has been playing around Perth and Fremantle supporting prominent international and national acts.
Ullah will be coming to Melbourne and Sydney for their first eastern states headline shows, launching their newest single “If I Were a Fish”.
A song about morphing yourself into something completely different for the acceptance of another, ignoring the gut feelings, exhaustion and bareness of it all.
The night shall be filled with themes of shifting and changing comforts, moments of accepting solitude and that growing pains are inevitable.
Supported by some very special guests.

RELIGIOUS OBSERVANCE + SHIPYARD + LABITULATE + SKEZM + OVERTHRONE

Religious Observance destroys The Old Bar.

The Old Bar will risk all the mortar binding it’s walls on the 31st May.

Religious Observance will crush you under the weight of its intense, dense, sludge noise genius. Heavy and pensive riffs played with bludgeoning cruelty.
Supporting Religious Observance on their destructive quest are:
Shipyard – Heavy and meditative sludge doom two piece
Latibulate -  Blackened Post Metal, desperate, scathing, vulnerable and intensely heavy.
Skezm – Furious and crushing punk grind. Whirlwind of Dystopia and Nails injected chaotic damage.
Overthrone – Blistering power-violence with latrine sensibilities. Chris Dodge from Spazz/Slap-a-ham needs to hear these legends.
J.Bknds – JRoc to close the evening on the decks… requests for’ the Nutbush’ will be taken seriously!

Come to the Old Bar and have your bones turned to chalk under the sonic barrage!
